I always assumed this was the goto app for subsonic on iOS. Been a happy user for years now. Absolutely love this app. You won’t regret getting it I promise.

The last few releases the cache has been broken. The last version that worked correctly was 24.2.1. The app caches properly, but when you click on the cache button the app crashes. The cache button works properly if nothing is in the cache. Very frustrating. It’s sad as I use that the most while driving.

I bought this and set up a subsonic server because I was desperate for some sort of option for streaming music to my Apple Watch, but I’m going to have to get a refund now since the app doesn’t support it like the store page implies.

Want to stop what you are listening to in order to talk with someone. Well you will have to look at where you are in whatever because chances are good it wont start playing again. Oh it says it is playing but there is no sounds. You have to completely close the app the. Reopen and go find the place you were manually and start again. Want to listen to the latest episode of a podcast? Nope it will say you are listening to that latests episode but it will actually be from a month ago. Such a frustrating app to use i wish i never bought

I do not recommend this app.

I’m 7 years in with this app, and although I still check out other like-apps, this is still by far the best. Easy interface, extensive as-is, and a right balance of add-ons if you have a more complex environment. Pick your favorite Subsonic API server and you’re good to go.

I originally purchased this app a few years ago and watching it grow to become such a fantastic client for my music has been a wonderful experience. Features are added as consistently as bugs are fixed and with a striving for smoothness and consistency in the interface. Without this app there is a good chance I would have given up on my Subsonic setup before it could have realized its potential. I rarely go out of my way to review an app but when I saw that after all the effort and dedication put in by the developer it only had 3.8 stars I made it a point to profess my appreciation for everything that they’ve done. It has the potential to be a nice, feature rich app. However, it has always been buggy playing audio through Bluetooth. Despite several reports, the issues just morph into something with slightly different symptoms, rather than actually getting fixed.

This app disabled common features into in-app purchases. Really shameful. These are features that many of the other subsonic apps give away for free. The whole reason I bought the app was because it had Apple Watch support. The Apple Watch app only has playlists where you have to upload the entire songs in full. It doesn’t access your subsonic server. This app is a serious disappointment and the greed is really disgusting.

Great app. Great customer service. Best one out there for Subsonic streaming!

ui is really hard to use

1. No intuitive way to edit playlist. You can add songs only to “active” playlist which means no way to build multiple playlists at the same time. 2. No way to play playlist in offline mode. Tapping playlists button starts server connection, tapping cache does not list playlists. How do I play my playlist when offline? 3. Syncing 55 songs playlist to Apple Watch took me couple hours. The process seems to be breaking and getting stuck on transcoding or watch sync status. It goes well for couple of songs then I have to restart it.

First off, I really like this app and recommend it highly. My library is around 50K songs and it handles it well. Nice interface. Buffers nicely for road trips. Would like to see three things fixed and one new feature. In ID3 tag browsing, Please fix the number of albums listed for each artist as well as the number of songs for each album. Also, when browsing artists by letter, the application hangs. Please add the ability to sort by album artist. Nice work!

Very glad that car play finally works. However it seems to get stuck at the end of every track, I have to manually go to the next track. More importantly, all of my playlists are empty when using car play, I have to start the playlists on my phone because that’s the only place they will show up

Best sound quality of any subsonic client - plays audio at its native rate. UI isn’t ideal but not bad!

Update: it’s been disappointing as of late. It was crashing consistently during searches. So I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now it crashes upon launching. I receive a complex error message. I have forwarded it to the developer. I am hoping he comes through as he has in the past. Unfortunately, until then, I can not recommend anymore. Flawless. Easy setup. Sound is on par. The best part is when you ask a question, the developer gets back to you quickly. That's rare. Highly recommended.

Since ios12 the app shows a black screen and no menus or controls when using via Carplay - please update!

The app downloads duplicates of the songs I search for. The searches miss many things. The developer does not answer.

Could use some work. Freezes on iPhone X but could be my beta software. Last.fm scrobbling stops when you Google cast which is stupid and I can't use it until that is fixed. Pretty please?

Would be 5 stars but you have to purchase each additional feature. Feels a bit like nickel and diming.

I started looking for an alternative to iSub when it became a little buggy with the latest release (some tracks not showing up for some albums). I found AVSub and it looks like the app is the heir apparent for when support and further development ceases for iSub (not too much longer now). AVSub is well supported and new features are being released frequently. The interface is simple and easy to navigate. Keep the updates coming, Mr. Levy! You've got a great app!!

The most powerful app for subsonic server!

AVSub is the ultimate pairing with the Subsonic media streaming platform. It works exactly as you would expect it to in terms of functionality, and has a lot of convenient and user friendly features, ESPECIALLY the support for Chromecast and high-res output to a DAC... making this app essentially perfect for any mobile audiophile set up. What sets this above above and beyond the rest is not only the feature set, but the developer himself. I had a few technical problems with the app when I first started using it, however after working with the App developer he was persistent with my issue and followed through with updating the app to fix ALL of my problems and kept me up to date through the process. You don't get that kind of support from other indie devs out there. Thanks Richard for the great app and customer service. I highly recommend this app.

This is definitely the Subsonic app you're looking for. Has a beautiful intuitive interface and is a joy to use. Big thanks to the developer.

UPDATE: latest release adds more ability to bookmarks making this the best app for listening to audio books!! Thanks for the update!! Thanks so much for adding bookmarks and doing so quickly. Now I can listen to my audio books with out losing my place. Couple this with a great interface and the fact that it is being actively developed, I can now switch from iSub to AVSub.

Works smoothly, nice UI and being able to cast to a Chromecast from my iPhone is huge!

App may not be perfect, but the Deb is constantly providing updates and responds very quickly to support requests/bug reports. I use this every day!

The only reason I picked up this app was for the chromecast support. Paid for the app AND to have the chromecast support enabled. It has been sketchy, but tolerable on its chromecast connection. Now it flat doesn't work. Look for something else folks. This one just nickel and dimes you for features that, quite honestly, should just be default features.

This native iPad app is just the iPhone app zoomed for a bigger screen, they have not yet built anything to take advantage of the extra real estate for the iPad. It's also a big bummer that to get chromecast support you have to double the price of the app with an in app purchase. Also Chromecast support seems to have broken. This is the only app I have that doesn't cast properly. Don't waste your money.

Av Sub is just what I was looking for and I love that it works with my Ampache music server. Keep up the good work!

For the few years, iSub has been the only worthwhile Subsonic player out there, even if it's UI had been dated. AVSub was promising when it first came out, but had a number of issues. Those issues are resolved and there have been a bunch of new and interesting features added as well. This is finally a modern app that works well and has all the bells and whistles you would expect.

I used this app awhile back and it didn't not work correctly, it has improved. It is now usable, keep up the good work. Having the top songs for an artist would be great.

Im writing my first app review because although the app has its problems, the developer has responded to me and fixed every problem I've reported. The software continues to mature over time and is worth the purchase.

Frequent crashes when searching. Needs search for cache.

This has a 5 star rating for me but now it stopped loading all my music. It's used t be perfect. Now certain albums just run though the cache and will not play the album. I can't even find a way to contact the author and all his links just point to his website. I used to love this program but now it's Undependable to me.

Either this doesn't work on iOS 9 or its just broken period. It thinks ALL my media are videos (I only have music), and not only that, but it's an extra IAP to play videos. Lol. Biggest waste of 3 dollars ever. Do not buy

How could they advertise a feature that is not included?

It has finally overtaken isub! Looking great and works perfectly. I agree with other review UI color option would be nice. Other than that it's great! Keep up the good work

I love that the developer is constantly improving this app. It has been my favorite alternative to isub and I'm starting to like this more. With the last couple of version the UI has had small refreshes with IMO the app really needed. The last refresh I'm waiting for is the cache. The way this app keeps improving it should become the best app for subsonic streaming. Devs just keep listening to the users and continue to improve the app and it will be the best. My suggestions for future updates. 1. Allow the user to pic the color of the UI 2. Create an automatic night mode so the UI is darker and doesn't blind the user while driving.

This app has every feature including caching and video playback. It also manages to pack in all these features while maintaining a simple UI with large buttons, this is much better to use in my car to play music when I'm driving!

The developer is very open to suggestions and knocks out bugs very quickly. Well worth a purchase. If there's one app that'll take you away from iSub, this is it.

With a few changes this will bury the competition. The changes I hope for are track pre-caching, ability to make playlists, and support for multi-disc albums. A lesser change would be being able to change the background color.

I used this app during a 12 hour road trip and it worked flawlessly. Highly recommended to anyone who uses Subsonic in the car.
